Do you have or know a child aged 6 to 10 who is ready to fall in love with hockey?
The online registration period for new-to-hockey families wishing to participate in the 2022 - 2023 NHL/NHLPA First Shift program is now open!
The NHL/NHLPA First Shift is a recruitment program designed to ease kids and their families into the sport of hockey in a fun and welcoming environment. It is open to girls and boys ages 6 to 10 years old, who have never previously registered to play hockey.
The 2022 – 2023 season will mark the ninth year of the program, which has seen more than 1,000 programs executed, resulting in more than 37,000 girls and boys across the country trying hockey for the first time.

2022 - 2023 Male U16 Program of Excellence Summer Camp Roster Announced
Hockey Manitoba recently released the roster for the 2022 - 2023 Male Under-16 Program of Excellence Summer Camp which will be held from July 19 to 23, 2022 at Seven Oaks Arena in Winnipeg.
This camp will be the third phase of the Hockey Manitoba Male U16 Program of Excellence (POE) which is the provincial high performance development and selection program that leads to the formation of U16 Team Manitoba.

2022 - 2023 Female U18 Program of Excellence Top-68 Camp
The 2022 - 2023 Hockey Manitoba Female Under-18 Program of Excellence (POE) Top-68 Camp will take place from June 3 to 5, 2022 at Bell MTS Iceplex in Winnipeg.
The Top-68 Camp is the first stage of the 2022 - 2023 Female U18 POE process. Following the Top-68 Camp, approximately forty players will be invited to the Female U18 POE Top-40 Camp which will be held from July 22 to 24, 2022 in Winnipeg.
Following the Top-40 Camp, approximately 24 to 26 players will be invited to the Female U18 POE Summer Development Camp which will be held from August 26 to 28, 2022 and an exhibition series which will be held from September 23 to 25, 2022 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan.
The final stage of the 2022 - 2023 Female U18 POE process will see the team compete at the 2023 Canada Winter Games which is scheduled to take place from February 26 to March 5, 2023 in Prince Edward Island.

Register for Developing Defencemen 2 Clinic with Bob Caldwell
Hockey Manitoba is pleased to offer a virtual Developing Defencemen 2 Instructional Stream Clinic via Zoom on Sunday June 12, 2022 (6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.) which will be led by Bob Caldwell, Hockey Manitoba Master Mentor Coach.
Please note: The Developing Defencemen 2 clinic is FREE and open to all coaches within Manitoba. Certified High Performance 1 and Development 1 coaches will earn 5 PD Points for this clinic.

Three Manitobans selected in Round 1 of the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft; 31 overall
Hockey Manitoba is pleased to recognize the 31 Manitoban players who were selected in the 2022 Western Hockey League (WHL) Prospects Draft.
Brandon's Cole Temple was selected by the Regina Pats with the 5th overall pick. Temple put up an incredible 108 points (58 goals, 50 assists) in 28 games for the U15 AAA Brandon Wheat Kings this past season.
Winnipeg's Peyton Kettles was selected right after Temple by the Swift Current Broncos with the 6th overall pick. Kettles registered 35 points (9 goals, 26 assists) in 30 games for RINK Hockey Academy this past season.
The third Manitoban to be selected in Round 1 of the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft was Winnipeg's Graham Jones, who went 18th overall to the Portland Winterhawks. Jones registered 81 points (33 goals, 48 assists) for RINK Hockey Academy this past season.

Throughout June, Hockey Manitoba is celebrating Pride Month and Indigenous History Month with a series of content pieces that highlight the contributions and accomplishments of 2SLGBTQ+ and Indigenous Manitobans at different levels of the game.
